Meet Dr. Michael Cerveris
I cannot imagine a day at this office ever being “work”; rather, each day is an opportunity to improve someone’s smile, discomfort level, or simply put them at ease.
I come from a family of talented individuals that included two dentists: my dad and my Uncle Ernie. As a teenager, working in my father’s practice, I was able to see the gratitude of successfully treated patients and how their lives were transformed as a result of the dental care they received. In graduate school, I chose to study comprehensive reconstruction because of the multitude of treatment options that improve not only function, but also cause dramatic, positive cosmetic changes for the patient, increasing their self-esteem and the ease with which they move through the world.
Personally and professionally, I’m a problem solver, and in this profession there is never a shortage of problems to solve. Educating my patients about the importance and necessities of comprehensive dental care is one of my biggest challenges. My treatment options always meet the standard of care, which often means maintaining dentition rather than overhauling it. Not everyone can afford expensive bridgework, implant restorations, or cosmetic makeovers, but by being creative and flexible in one’s approach, many tough problems can and are overcome.
- Bachelor of Science, biology, Bucknell University
- Doctorate of Dental Medicine, University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine
- Prosthodontic residency, University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine
Since graduation, I have continually sought out opportunities to expand my knowledge of emerging technologies and treatment options in medicine and dentistry. It is imperative that I stay current with such developments in order to provide the best, proven options for my patients. Therefore, I regularly attend continuing education courses offered through lectures, seminars, and conferences.

I was born and raised in Pittsburgh and now reside near the village of New Franklin, PA. I have two children: a son who is away at college and a daughter who has presented me with two fantastic grandchildren. When I’m not caring for my patients, I enjoy keeping busy with hunting, fishing, rounds of golf, and playing softball. I also enjoy gardening, canning vegetables, and picking the peaches and apples from my small orchard.
I am also very interested in forensic dentistry and find that work to be uniquely rewarding. My opportunities to serve as a member of the federal team tasked with victim identification include various airline disasters, including the 9/11 Flight 93, and more recently, a trip to Haiti following the devastating earthquake.
A firm believer in giving back to and serving my community, I have volunteered with and supported the American Red Cross Disaster Response program and the American Heart Association. I’m a founding member of the Chambersburg Evening Lions Club, president of the Suburban Youth Baseball League, and president of the Franklin County Senior Softball League, as well.
I have done my best to immerse myself in the small town lifestyle to understand more clearly how my community works. It is a generous, caring, conservative assembly of good folks.
